Fitness Kickboxing

Thai kickboxing is in fact the same sport as Muay Thai (which is explained in more detail later on). Nevertheless, where the concept of fitness Thai kickboxing differs from Muay Thai is with regards to it’s focus on fitness (as the name would suggest). In a fitness Thai kickboxing class the focus is more on achieving a very intense total body workout, but at the same time it’s a great way to release pent-up frustrations and for relieving stress. Furthermore, many fitness Thai kickboxing classes do not make any restrictions on attire. There’s no need for a uniform and no belts that have to be worn. The general rule is that you wear what makes you most comfortable. There’s little risk of injury from contact even though Muay Thai is very much traditionally a contact sport. Fitness Thai kickboxing classes utilize specially-designed punching and kicking bags: Thus, there’s no actual need to worry about competing with an overly aggressive opponent, or coming away with a bloody nose and a black eye. Fitness Thai kickboxing is ideal either as a fully-fledged workout program, or as a cross-training add-on to your current fitness plan.


Boot Camp Training

Boot Camp training describes a program of physical training which tends to be overseen by former military personnel, fitness trainers, or gym staff. The programs are established in order to utilize a variety of 1-hour-long intense group intervals. In turn, the training is designed to build fitness and strength. The training often begins with a variety of stretching methods and some running. After, the program can include lifting weights, push-ups and sit-ups, interval training, plyometrics, pulling TRX straps, and a whole variety of other routines which are employed to incorporate a high level of intensity. The sessions normally conclude with a short period of yoga stretching. The term “boot camp” is regularly used within the fitness industry to encompass the concept of the fitness class which is based on fat loss, team effort, and camaraderie. Muay Thai

Muay Thai arises from the Muay martial arts in Thailand. It is a combat sport which is based on a variety of clinching techniques in addition to stand-up striking methods. In reality the highest level of Muay Thai relies on rhythm, timing, and deceptive footwork to overcome opponents with skill and ease.


BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu)

Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) combines a self-defense system, with martial arts, and a combat sport. It focuses on grappling with an opponent, and much of the activity is centered on ground fighting. Brazilian jiu jitsu was adapted from Kodokan Judo ground fighting (Ne-Waza). Eventually, after many changes were implemented, it grew to become recognized as a separate sport to that of Kodokan Judo. Since the inception of BJJ in 1914, its’ parent art of Judo became separated from older forms of Japanese ju jistu due to one major difference. That difference was also passed on to BJJ. These art forms are not merely seen as martial arts. They are regarded as a way of sport, as well as a way to enhance physical fitness and build character in young people. Ultimately, BJJ has become a way of life for many. The concept behind BJJ is that a smaller and also weaker individual can successfully defend themselves against a larger, more powerful assailant by way of utilizing proper technique. In this case, proper technique may include chokeholds and joint-locks which can be used to defeat the opponent. BJJ has two main catagories: gi and no-gi; and can also be used in other sports tournaments/events such as mixed martial arts (MMA).


No-Gi Jiu Jitsu

No-gi jiu jitsu or no-gi Brazilian jiu jitsu as this martial arts is also known by, distinguishes itself from traditional gi jiu jitsu through the costume – or kimono uniform – worn during the event. In gi jiu jitsu, a uniform, similar to a judo uniform, is donned by the opponents. This uniform is made from heavily woven fabric and is designed to withstand rigorous pulling, lifting and a variety of throwing actions which are common throughout the martial arts sport. On the other hand, no-gi jiu jitsu focuses on learning moves that do not involve the gi. In other words, the uniform can be very different, which makes it much more difficult to achieve the same variety of moves and throwing actions that can be found in gi jiu jistu.
One aspect to no-gi training is that it forces the student to learn to gain better control of their opponent by using control and positioning of their own body weight. The gi acts like a handle, where the opponent achieves a better grip, and thus it can be argued that no-gi training forces a refinement of techniques which are effective against an opponent, regardless of what they are wearing. The rules for what can be worn in competition offer a wide variety of garment options. Gi pants with a t-shirt, MMA board shorts and a rash guard, or grappling tights and a rash guard are some common choices.



Boxing is described as a combination of a combat sport and a martial art. It’s a contest between two opponents, both of whom engage each other by throwing punches with gloved hands. It involves strength, endurance, reflexes, speed, and often great will power in order to succeed. A boxing bout or contest is supervised by a trained referee. The bout features a series of time intervals, which are otherwise known as rounds. A round can be from anything between one and three minutes in duration. The result of a bout is decided when it is deemed by the presiding referee that one or other of the opponents is unfit to continue, for whatever reason. Furthermore, a bout can be decided on disqualification of one of the contenders for breaking a rule, or indeed, when one opponent resigns by throwing in the towel. Should the bout continue to the end of the final round however, then the winner will be decided based on judges’ scorecards. Nevertheless, the final decision may well be a draw. It is thought that boxing as a sport was introduced as an Olympic game in Greece, as long ago as 688 BC. In Great Britain, boxing evolved during the time between the 16th and 18th centuries, when prizefights were held. Prizefights were known to draw in large audiences and many a wager was placed on the outcome of the fight. Modern-day boxing evolved in Great Britain during the mid-19th century, after which, it began to become widely accepted in the United States.
