What Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport and self-defense system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. BJJ is built on the idea that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a larger opponent by using:

  • Leverage

  • Position

  • Technique

  • Joint locks and chokeholds

Instead of relying on strength, you learn how to use body mechanics and strategy to control and submit an opponent.

BJJ training can be used for:

  • Gi and No-Gi grappling tournaments

Gi & No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Our program includes both Gi and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu:

  • Gi BJJ uses the traditional uniform and teaches grips, controls and submissions based on the jacket and pants.

  • No-Gi BJJ is practiced in athletic wear like rash guards and shorts, focusing more on body control, speed, wrestling-style takedowns and leg attacks.

Training in both styles gives you a complete grappling skill set.
